So if corporations have freedom to spend whatever they want on campaigns, and corporations can be owned by anyone, including foreigners, how are we now not China’s bitch? Cold war what? Communism who?

Just look at today’s Supreme Court decision to lift campaign finance limits. This decision was made along party lines with the court’s four liberals dissenting. ALL FIVE of the majority opinion were judges appointed by Republican presidents.
So now corporations have even more control thanks to the court whose majority was created by Republican presidents. [...]

Upset as I am about the fading hopes for health care legislation, I think it’s important to focus blame where it belongs the most: On the CEO’s of the evil health care insurance companies who would rather see tens of thousands of people die rather than to sacrifice any money from the bottom line. [...]

lots of money on all these new consumer devices including a line of tablets which didn’t even exist until now. Oh and don’t forget all this ridiculous 3D crap. New camcorders, new TV’s, new cable dishes. New shit galore.
By buying all this crap you will be fulfilling your patriot duty as a consumer. (You are [...]

I just watched the Bad Romance video for the first time today, yes today December 31, 2009. I totally get why Lady Gaga is so popular now. DUH! Textbook unresolved Oedipus complex sold to gay men via bathhouse metaphor. DUH! Next pop pls.

Max Keiser, in this video, interviews economist Ravi Batra who explains how deceptive the productivity rate is and how it actually harms the economy when salaries don’t rise accordingly. This is a VERY interesting interview and it starts at around ten minutes into this clip:

OK so I’ve been thinking about this all day. First of all, a caveat: I may completely contradict opinions that I have held as recently as this morning. My mind often changes, but I’m just trying to figure this all out… aloud.
If we blame the politicians, it gets us nowhere. Just about all of them [...]

America has never been about equality. It’s about inequality. Case in point: marriage equality. Case in point: healthcare. There are assholes in this world who don’t think that everyone should have equal access to healthcare as well as marriage. Whether it’s about race, gender, sexual preference, etc., it’s always about the same thing: bigotry. We [...]

And to make matters worse, now the post office is notifying all of my utilities that I have moved house and they are in turn changing my address in their systems.
Yesterday the Orifice of the Postmaster General finally replied to my query of last week. Below is their email to me and my response [...]

About a month ago, I completed my one month free trial with netflix. During that time, every single DVD they sent me was received by me the very next day. As soon as the trial ended, however, the DVD’s began taking about 2-5 days longer each.
I had read about this on Consumerist.com, but was [...]

I’m beginning to wonder if Ahmadinejad is despised in the same way an un-selfaware person hates the acquaintance who visibly displays his own worst personality traits. For example, people who are impatient waiting for the cashier at the CVS annoy me but I do the exact same thing. This is know in certain [...]

…between a Republican and a Democrat? Both allow corporations to fasciastly run the state:
His achievement required political clout, and that, too, is on display. Soon after he formed Citigroup, Congress repealed a Depression-era law that prohibited goliaths like the one Weill had just put together anyway, combining commercial and investment banking, insurance and stock brokerage [...]

What a fucking pig. I’m too angry to write anything more on the subject.

New findings on marijuana’s damaging effect on the brain show the drug triggers temporary psychotic symptoms in some people, including hallucinations and paranoid delusions, doctors say.

La Vache Qui Lit:

The expression “fearless speech” is a rough translation of the Greek parrhesia, which designates those who take a risk to tell the truth; the citizen who has the moral qualities required to speak the truth, even if it differs from what the majority of people believe and faces danger for speaking it.
