The Post-Bush Era

I believe that years from now historians will refer to the time in which we are living as the “Post-Bush Era.” Post-Bush because Bush will be seen as the idiot who fucked up everything. Hopefully there will be another era after this period, but who knows what crazy shit finna happen next?

But it will not be just about Bush. It will also be about The Supreme Court: The Court in 2000 which stopped the democratic process by ordering Florida to stop counting the ballots; The Court which in 2010 (or was it late ’09?) gave our democracy away to foreign countries and as Obama said in his State of the Union address, even to our enemies,

After the 2000 court decision I remember visualizing the crack in The Liberty Bell which I was taken to see on a field trip as a child. The Liberty Bell’s crack, however, meant the opposite of what had just happened, though. My mother explained to me at the time that the bell cracked because people were so happy to have gained independance that they rang the bell so hard that it cracked. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but that’s what my mother told me and I like the story.

This time the crack is literal.

So if corporations have freedom to spend whatever they want on campaigns, and corporations can be owned by anyone, including foreigners, how are we now not China’s bitch? Cold war what? Communism who?

Just look at today’s Supreme Court decision to lift campaign finance limits. This decision was made along party lines with the court’s four liberals dissenting. ALL FIVE of the majority opinion were judges appointed by Republican presidents.

So now corporations have even more control thanks to the court whose majority was created by Republican presidents. These corporations will make it more likely for more Republicans to win which will secure even more rights for corporation and less rights for people.

In this country, corporations have the same rights as citizens. This “corporate personhood” is ridiculous and causes corporations to run this country instead of its people.

Corporate personhood needs to end now.

Time figure out how to stop these corporations from being evil. Legislators are as useful as penis pimples in doing this since they rely on corporate money to get elected.

China Imprisons and American Video Blogger for VIDEOTAPING a Free Tibet Protest

Bicyclemark just interviewed Bhagdad Brian’s wife. Brian was imprisoned yesterday for videotaping a protest in Beijing. This is ridiculous. First China deports vloggers for doing the same thing. Now they’ve upped the ante by imprisoning the vloggers. Is it because they know Americans don’t give a shit? Please listen and spread the word. America cannot allow China to imprison American citizens for doing what America is supposedly all about: speaking freely.

Consider the impact of America allowing China to imprison AMERICANS. THink of what this means for the future of China’s influence on America. Consider how much they own of American corporations and especially mortages.
