Netflix Trial Scam
Categories: video, war against dumb

About a month ago, I completed my one month free trial with netflix. During that time, every single DVD they sent me was received by me the very next day. As soon as the trial ended, however, the DVD’s began taking about 2-5 days longer each.

I had read about this on Consumerist.com, but was skeptical. Now, I have experienced it first hand and believe that Netflix does this wait-and-switch on purpose. It’s really a stupid and short-sighted business practice.

I really hate when corporations act in such a way that makes it obvious they think their customers are complete morons.

Good riddance, Netflix!

P.S. In their automated response to my cancellation, they told me to return the movies I was supposed to have received two days ago! That’s chutzpah.

UPDATE: It turns out this problem is 100% due do my local post office not delivering ANY of my mail. Sorry about that, Netflix.

I had a Netflix subscription for awhile. But I couldn’t really afford it anymore. I just rent from a local place now. And when necessary, I use BitTorrent.

  2. I haven’t had a single problem with them. It sucks that you are getting dicked around with.

I’ve been with them for many years now and the turnaround time changes drastically all the time. Sometimes it’s a day or two, sometimes four. Seems that new releases work faster.

When I had multi-disc plans sometimes they’d all come at once even if I returned one or two at a time. Never really stressed about it tho, ’cause they always ended up coming.

With that said, I love the Roku player and their streaming service.
